Bill was a hard guy to follow. I mean to physically follow. When he went somewhere on a mission, one had to run to keep up. He was focused and took on a task or repair a machine even if he, at first, didn’t know where to start. He determined what needed to be done and physically finished it himself. Nothing ever defeated him. I know as I worked for and with him for a number of years. One of his favorite sayings was “Don’t fight success”. He had a way of accomplishing something and didn’t deviate from what worked for him before. Great guy and boss.

Wanted you all to know how much we thought about Mr. Manter (Bill).

He was my dad's (Charlie Russell) tooling mentor. Mr. Manter will be missed by us not only in the metal stamping industry but in aviation. He was so passionate about both.

Right after my husband (Steve) got his pilots license, We rented one of Mr. Manter's planes to fly down to Put-In-Bay, Ohio. Mr. Manter was right there giving us some great advice that we still talk about today. What a wonderful human being that has impacted so many of us in a positive way.

Dear Manter Family: I have known Mr. Manter practically my whole life. My parents, Frank and Gerry Zochowski owned the Romeo Airport and I remember your dad vividly as he spent a lot of time at the airport. My father died in 1983 but my mom is still living in Richmond and doing well. She will be 95 in May. I am in Florida otherwise I would bring her to your fathers funeral. I will be sure to let her know of his passing in case she can arrange to be there. There have been many fond memories of him and every time I drove past the Marine City Airport I thought of him. He lived a good and productive life that you should all be proud of.
