Cathy, What a lovely lady, what a special mom you had...I will treasure the memories growing up- the peanut blossom and church window cookies she made and how she would get after us to wear our hats and gloves (we would take them off when our moms weren't looking!) Thus- my "other mother" as I called her at times...
My mom (Mary Jane) loved her and when either could not sleep, both felt comfort looking down the street and seeing the light on, Mom and Val knew they were not alone in the night. Even during these last few months though mom has struggled with her dementia, she would ask about Val, and looked forward to the times they could talk.
Mom and Val were prayer warriers...What I treasure the most is Val's prayer support through the years in some of my toughest- darkest times- and she encouraged me with her soft words and prayers. Val had a sweet smile and a laugh that always made me smile.
She was a strong woman with good character and a strong faith in the Lord. I admired her strength under that hardest of circumstances. Dave has said how much she endured and how she had such a good attitude. We will both miss her dearly and we are here for you.
