Roger H. Parmentier's Obituary
Roger H. Parmentier, age 79, of Casco Twp., passed away March 17th. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 60 years Elaine. Sons; Gary (Donna), Robert and Richard, and daughter; Gail (Robert). He is also survived by grandchildren; Keri (Tim), Michelle (Ryan) and Robert Traverse, great grandchildren; Emily, Kyle, Izabella and Tyler. He is preceded in death a son Roger Kenneth, age 10, and Suzanne Duetsch.
Roger was an educator, administrator, and renowned football coach. He coached both at Cooley and Denby High Schools of the P.S.L. In his later years he coached at both Romeo and Utica Eisenhower High Schools.
He was a recipient of the P.S.L. Lifetime Achievement Award and was a member of the M.H.S.F.C.A. Hall of Fame.
Later his endeavor brought him to the St. Clair area, where he became Principal of St. Clair High School then Superintendent of East China Schools. As Superintendent, despite adversity, Roger built two elementary schools, additions to both High Schools, removed all portable structures and built two swimming pools, which now continue to benefit and bring enjoyment to the surrounding community.
He gave 23 years to the St. Clair County Marine Division as a Sergeant. He also wrote many of the safety and marine patrol manuals.
Roger and Elaine traveled through the community playing his accordion, entertaining the seniors with sing-a-longs. Showing their great love for people and music. He will be truly missed.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at St. Augustine Catholic Church, Richmond. Visitation will be Sunday 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. and Monday 2:00 to 5:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 at Young Funeral Home, East China Twp. and Tuesday 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the church prior to mass.
A rosary will be said Monday at 7:30. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the wishes of the family.
