Robert N. Bolla's Obituary
Robert N. Bolla, age 82, of East China Twp., died February 11, 2011 following a lenghty illness.
Bob was born March 21, 1928 in Detroit to the late Albert and Emma Bolla. On April 26, 1952 he married Marybeth Ledtke in Detroit.
He was an Eagle Scout and served with the United States Army.
Bob received his Bachelor of Science in Education Degree, Master of Education Degree, and Education Specialist Degree all from Wayne State University. He was a 50 year member of the First Congregational Church U.C.C. St.Clair, Past President of the St. Clair Rotary and was a Paul Harris Fellow.
Bob worked for the East China School District for 32 years as teacher, coach, athletic director, business administrator, and also principal of the East China Elementary School, St. Clair High School, and Marine City High School.
He served as the executive secretary of the St. Clair Area League for 21 years and was a member of the Michigan High School Athletic Association for 40 years. Bob loved officiating and officiated many local sporting events as well as in Canada and Florida. He was most proud of officiating in four Michigan High School State Final games. He was also an avid hunter and fisherman.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years Marybeth Bolla, sons; David R. Bolla, DDS of Port Huron, Daniel A. Bolla of East China Twp., granddaughters; Leah (Edwin) Summers of Washington and Joy Lynn Bolla of St. Clair, great granddaughter; Quinn Summers, brother;
Ernie (Pat) Bolla of Springfield, Ohio.
Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be conducted Friday February 18, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Congregational Church, St. Clair. The family will receive visitors at the church prior to the service from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m.
Memorials may be made to the First Congregational Church, St.Clair.
