My father, E. Matt Kalliomaa, sponsored the arrival of Jorma to Fairport Harbor in the summer of 1963. I happened to be there for a month with my three children, since my husband, Robert Long, was in India on a Fulbright scholarship. We enjoyed connecting with another Lahti cousin. The Lahti cousins in Ohio held many family gatherings from yearly reunions, to weddings and funerals. Jorma left Ohio to go to the Detroit area because Eino Sjo's family was there and he found work. LaRiene Sjo was the major support system for Jorma as he settled into the area. She has continued to help him through both troubled and happy times. Tina was introduced to the Ohio cousins at my father's funeral in 1990. We immediately knew he had found his soulmate. Tina brightened the lives of everyone she touched. She had sisu and we will all miss her.
