Richard "Dick" Schulte's Obituary
Richard “Dick” Schulte, age 79, of East China, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Tuesday, May 23, 2023. He was born on July 1, 1943.
Dick was born and raised in East Detroit, graduating from East Detroit High School. Following high school, he worked as a welder for a small company. That led to his apprenticeship at Boilermakers Local 169. Dick worked as a Boilermaker for 35 years, retiring in 1999. Dick proudly served his country in the National Guard during the Detroit riots. In his spare time, Dick enjoyed fishing on Lake St. Clair, bowling and golfing. He was a part of several golf and bowling leagues for as long as his children could remember. He also enjoyed his time at the casino with his significant other, Susie. They would travel all over the state exploring different casinos.
He is survived by his sons, Greg (Lesley) Schulte, Jaime (Jill) Schulte; significant other, Susie Hart; extended family, Angie (Rich) Conway, Matt (Jodi) Closs; grandchildren, Sienna, Sawyer, Griffin, Carter Schulte, Amanda and Amber Cowin, Austin and Hannah Conway, Sophia and Sammy Closs; sister, Diane (Richard) Fosgate, as well as several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Vivian (Vince) Forni and sister Patty (Patrick) Holmes. A funeral Service will be held on Saturday, June 10th at 11:00 a.m. at Young Funeral Home, China twp. Visiting hours will be on Friday, June 9th from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. as well as one hour prior to the service on Saturday. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Hero's and Horses and St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital. Interment at Rosehill Cemetery, East China.
