Rev. Richard D. Schlegel's Obituary
Rev. Richard D. Schlegel, age 80, of East China Twp., died September 13, 2014. He was born May 12, 1934 in Valley View, Pennsylvania to the late Ira and Hannah Schlegel.
Richard was a graduate of Muhlenberg College in 1956 and received his Master of Divinity Degree at the Lutheran Theological Seminary in Philadelphia in 1959. For 44 years Pastor Schlegel served Lutheran parishes in Belfast-Wind Gap and Allentown, Pennsylvania and Harrison Twp., Michigan.
He is the beloved husband of 54 years of Mary Alice Schlegel, loving father of Matthew (Kristin) Schlegel and Krista Rickel, proud grandfather of Jessica (Richard), Michael, Devon, Anthony and Alec.
A memorial service to celebrate Richard’s life will be conducted Saturday September 20th at 2:00 p.m. at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, St. Clair. The family will receive relatives and friends at a fellowship reception at the church following the service.
