Richard W. McGowan's Obituary
Richard W. McGowan, age 93, of East China Twp., formerly of St. Clair Shores, passed away September 30, 2021. He was born on July 3, 1928 in Detroit to the late Thomas and Vera McGowan.
He proudly served his country with the U.S. Marines in World War II and the Korean War. He married Joan Nossal on May 13, 1950 in Detroit. She preceded him in death on March 28, 2021.
He worked for Michigan Cartage and Ryder as a mechanic and supervisor. Richard enjoyed woodworking and gardening. Sharing his talents with his family with his woodworking skills. He loved his time spent with his grandchildren and family.
He is survived by his children; Richard M. McGowan, Sheryl (Robert) Kosinski, Jill Gray, and Kevin (Mary) McGowan. He is also survived by his grandchildren; J.P. Rafferty, Kelly (Zachary) Forster, Megan Kosinski (Christian Bernardo), Sarah (Kyle) Murphy, Bryan Gray, Kathleen McGowan and great-grandchildren; Aubrey and Violet.
He was preceded in death by his daughter; Sally McGowan and his siblings; Thomas McGowan, Patricia McGowan, Wallace “Bud” McGowan and Mary Stevens.
Funeral mass will be Friday October 8th at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, St. Clair. Visiting hours will be Thursday from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Young Funeral Home, China Twp. Rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m.
