Dear Grandpa,
I owe much of my beloved childhood to you. I remember being your little farm girl, helping you plant and harvest cucumbers, peppers, tomatoes, and beans. I loved sitting on your lap and riding the tractor and "helping" you in the workshop (the rooster coop!). When you and Grandma came to visit us in Australia, we had such an amazing time together. I'll never forget how you protected me from the big emus.
You taught me how to throw a baseball and made the best brown cows around. You almost beat me in that race that one time, when I let down my guard, and we laughed about it ever since.
Together we would go for walks outside, collecting rocks and freeing dragonflies from spiderwebs. You used to watch over me as I delicately pulled the webbing off their wings and set them free. You called me their angel.
Well, you're my angel now, Grandpa. Along with Grandma and Aunt Sally. Please watch over us--until we meet again. I love you, Grandpa! Now and forever. ❤️
