Patricia "Patty" Bassett's Obituary
Patricia “Patty” Bassett, age 71, of Marine City, passed away January 25, 2026. She was born December 4, 1954 in St. Clair.
Patty worked many years and was a well known lunch lady at Washington Elementary School in Marine City. She formed many longtime friendships during these years. Patty also worked at Utica Schools as a crossing guard and lunch lady. After moving back to Marine City she was employed at Pac-Lite Products and later transferred to SMR.
In her spare time, Patty enjoyed gardening, tending to her flowers and baking until her health deteriorated.
Patty is survived by her son, Joe (Emily) Bassett; granddaughter, Mikayla Bassett; previous daughter in law, Bryanne Bassett; sister, Darlene (Paul) Vermeulen, brothers, Vincent (Virginia) Reynolds and Jim (Peggy) Reynolds, sister and caregiver, Lynne (Curt) Sicken and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Patty is predeceased by her mother, Betty Reynolds; son, Richard Bassett; grandson, Malcolm Bassett and fiancé, Jed Dorton.
A funeral service will be held Friday, January 30th at 11:00 a.m. at Young Funeral Home, China Twp. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Marine City.
Visiting hours are Thursday, January 29th from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Friday 10:30 to 11:00 a.m. prior to service at funeral home.
