Nora Ann (Ozar) Szurpicki's Obituary
Nora Ann (Ozar) Szurpicki passed away at the age of 86 on Dec. 12 at home. She was a 20 year resident of Huntington Woods and a 32 + year resident of St. Clair. She was born in Pontiac, Michigan on August 16, 1938 to Francis C. Ozar and Nora M. (Folan).
Nora entered the nursing program in 1957at St. Joseph’s Mercy in Detroit and earned her Registered Nurse license in 1960. She practiced in Texas, New Jersy and Michigan.
She met her husband John at Our Lady of LaSalette grade school and again in 1959. They married in 1961 and were blessed with 7 children; Tamara Ann (Dan) Smith –Sterling Heights, MI, Kathryn Marie (Jeff) Hill – Romeo, MI, Christina Marie Shell – deceased, John Jr (Holly) Szurpicki – MN, Deborah Ann (Chris) Anderson – Palms, MI, Ann Marie (Mike) Myziuk – Macomb Twp, MI, and Michael (Mirjana) Francis Szurpicki – deceased.
Nora and John were blessed with 16 beautiful and talented grandchildren, Ryan Shell; Austin & Rachael Smith; Alex & Gavin Hill; Luke, Cole, Michael, Paige, & Bridget Anderson; Jonathon & Colleen Szurpicki; Jacob, Adam, Emma, & Sarah Myziuk; and great grandchild, Logan Smith.
Her surviving siblings are Francis (Bud) Ozar – Grosse Pte. Park, MI; Thomas Ozar – St. Clair Shores, MI., and Marybeth (Katz) – Birmingham, AL.
Nora was loved by all for her generosity, love, and humor. She loved to entertain and cook for the holidays and birthdays.
Nora and John designed and built their home in St. Clair in 1988-89. In the following years, they enjoyed spending the winter months in Puerto Rico. And added cruise trips to Alaska, Hawaii, the Caribbean, and rivers in Europe.
Nora was very happy to stay home and raise the family until the youngest started school. A refresher course in Nursing was in order. She then worked in kidney dialysis, private duty home care, and taking care of the homeless, which was very rewarding for her.

Funeral arrangements by Young’s Funeral Home in China Twp., A memorial mass will be Monday, December 23rd at 11:30 a.m. at Holy Cross Catholic Church, Marine City.
