Condolences to the family he will be missed by all he knew.. Jess
He was always the first to greet a newcomer at the flying field ; "Hello, my name is Jack" with his outreached hand to shake theirs. It didn't matter who the person was, he would always make them feel at home and welcome. He worked hard to bring people together, and equally hard to keep them together. He was always there with words of encouragement, or consolation (" if it were easy...."). He was always ready to do more than his part, and never noticed if others didn't do theirs- that did not matter to him it wasn't even on his radar. He was passionate and steadfast in his opinions, but always respected the opinions of others-even if he considered them just plane wrong.
He was passionate about flying, I consider it a privilege to have shared that passion with him, and grateful for that last time we flew together.
Jack would consider my words "Just stirring the ashes", but he was a good man, more than a friend, and he will be deeply missed.
I met Jack over 15 years ago when I joined the River District Eagles and learned to fly. Seemed like any time you showed up at the field, Jack was there. Always testing, building, flying and most of all, sharing with all of us. He was a good man, a good friend and will be missed by all. I had a change in work schedules and ended up not being able to fly for a few years now so I didnt see as much of the guys as I used too,but each month when the newsletter showed up in my email, there would be words from Jack. There he was, still lending a helping hand. A few months ago I saw him at the diner in Richmond. Im so glad I got to see him that one last time. We will certainly miss you old man but I am sure, he is in heaven sticking an engine on something and seeing if he can get it to fly! RIP
