Michael Phillips' Obituary
Michael Dale Phillips, age 59, of Richmond, died January 9, 2011 after battling cancer. He was born October 15, 1951 in Marine City to the late Carl and Myrtle Phillips. Michael graduated from Marine City High School in 1969 and from Western Michigan University in 1974. He worked for Prudential, Lumberjack, Home Depot, and most recently at Lowes. He also owned and operated Rapid Rogers Party Store from 1989 - 1999. Michael loved to golf and visit the beaches.
He is survived by his sons; Shaun of El Paso, TX, and Matthew of Richmond; two brothers, Carl (Judy) of Richmond and Wayne (Georgia) of Marine City; former wife and mother of their sons, Michelle; and best friend and caregiver Patti Osborn.
Cremation has taken place and Mike will be honored at a memorial service on Thursday January 13th at 12:00 noon at Young Funeral Home, China Twp. Rev. Troy Waite will preside. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home Thursday from 10:00 a.m. till noon. A luncheon at St. Martins Lutheran Church, Marine City will follow the service. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to the nursing dept. at St. John's River District Hospital, East China.
