I loved growing up and having the Phillips family as my neighbors. They were always like family to me and I am really going to miss Mike. Every time I would come how from Chicago to visit, Mike was there to welcome me and ask how things were going.##imported-begin##James Rhein##imported-end##

So many of my childhood memories involve your family and are remembered with a smile. From dog-sitting, to taking shelter during tornados at your house to playing hide and seek, it’s all part of the fabric that makes me the person I am today. Even as an adult, a visit to my parents often included seeing Mike out enjoying the sun or popping out to say ‘Hello Beckers!’ I will still look over at the porch out of habit and expect to see him for a long time I’m sure.

My thoughts and prayers go out to your entire family. This is a very tough disease to go thru for the patient and family. I myself experienced this twice with my mother and father, only to lose them both at age 15 and 20. I had the opportunity to work with Mike for many years at Lowes. He was a smart wit man! He wanted his orders done and no complaining. I will most certainly miss him coming up to the desk for me to take care of his customer issues. Hes resting in a better place painfree. We all must remember Mike for all his golf stories and all the good laughs we had. Mike you were so much more to me then just a friend and someone I loved and cared for in your time of need. You truly were a blessing in my life and Im a better person for knowing you. Mr Phillips was like a second dad to me while I was growing up. A sincere, hardworking, and loving father. My sincerest condolences go out to Shaun and Matthew who have been rocks while helping their father through this. You are the sons of a great man and he is very proud of the both of you. He will be missed, but remembered in all the great memories we have of him.
