I didn’t know Merle well, but I saw him in church every Sunday. When I had surgery in 2022, he stopped me to tell me he was praying for me. Of course I was very touched. After that, not a Sunday went by that I didn’t stop to say hello. Everyone I talk to at church says the same….”he was the kindest, sweetest man”. Prayers for your family.
What a great man and uncle! Growing up he would always make us laugh with his imitation of Rosco P Coltrane from the Dukes of Hazzard. I remember he came to one of my grade school basketball games and heckled me during warm ups, I think he was trying to impress Aunt Ruth because they just started dating. I’m so lucky to have his military picture displayed with my dad’s military picture right next to him. My Grandma and Grandpa proudly displayed this picture on their mantle.
