Melvin J. Bandlow's Obituary
Melvin J. Bandlow, age 84, of Casco Twp., died December 10, 2016. He was born September 11, 1932 to Melvin and Viola Bandlow in Casco Twp. On June 30, 1956 Melvin married Doris Wiley in St. Clair. Melvin honorably served his country as a Sergeant and tank commander in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a foreman for Ward Van Nuck Asphalt Paving for 38 years.
Among his many interests, Mel was an avid snowmobiler and hunter. He enjoyed building and racing both snowmobiles and dune buggies. He also was a member of St. James UCC, Casco Twp.
Mel is survived by his wife of 60 years, Dorie Bandlow; daughters and sons in law, Debbie and Ken Schweiger of Columbus Twp., Cheryl and Mike Dudek of New Haven and Lori and Brian O’Neil of Richmond, five grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Daryl Bandlow.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday December 14th at 11:00 a.m. at Young Funeral Home, China Twp. Interment will follow in St. James Cemetery, Casco Twp. Visiting hours are Tuesday 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. Serving as pallbearers are Alan Shagena, Brian and Matt O’Neil, Mike Dudek, Ken Schweiger and Larry Bandlow.
