Mr. Marvin P. Markel Sr.'s Obituary
Marvin P. Markel Sr., age 82, of Marine City, died November 25, 2014. He was born on the family farm October 19, 1932 in Cottrellville Twp. Marvin served with the U.S. Army from 1954 to 1956 where he was presented the sharpshooter award. On June 18, 1956 Marvin married Alynne Burns in Angola, Indiana. She preceded him in death in 2004. He was a lifetime area farmer and also worked for Pamar Enterprises for over ten years. Marvin was an avid hunter and enjoyed his trips to the casino.
He is survived by his children; Mary Spencer, Diane Markel, David (Gerriann) Markel and Julie (Lou) Wilson, daughter in law; Kathy Markel, grandchildren; Mark, Iris and Claire Spencer, Alysia Ferrier, Jim Schoenberg, Alynne VanUden, David, Wendy, Andrea and Josh Markel, Violet, Louis and Bradley Wilson, seven great grandchildren, sisters and brothers; Sylvia Dietlin, Sr. Marie Markel, Kenneth (Leona) Markel and Lynn (Janice) Markel, sisters in law; Geneva Markel and Alice Kaminski and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son; Marvin Markel Jr., grandson; Brian Markel, brothers; Clair, Charles and Bernard Markel and son in law; Mark Spencer.
Funeral Mass will be Monday December 1st at 12:00 p.m. at Holy Cross Catholic Church, Our Lady on the River Parish, Marine City. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Marine City. Visiting hours are Sunday 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Young Funeral Home and Monday 11:30 to 12:00 at the church prior to mass.
