Mr. Markel was my neighbor for over 30 years, and no one could have asked for a better one. He helped me on numerous occasions, from giving me a key when I locked my self out of my house, to pushing my car stuck in the snow. He kept watch over my house and more than once called me when my horses got out onto the road. Marvin had the best sweet corn in the county, and he always shared that and many other great treats from his garden. I will miss our frequent chats where we would discuss neighborhood news, world happenings, and one hobby we shared, the casino. We exchanged casino stories, win or lose and I have a happy memory of the Christmas I gave him and Alynne a little Canadian money to play at Sarnia and Alynne hit for $8,000. Marvin was always happy and had a great laugh. I will forever picture him on his red Massey Ferguson tractor plowing up the gardens, or out there tending his crops. He will be sadly missed.
