Louis R. Lozon's Obituary
Louis R. Lozon of Marine City passed away on January 16, 2026 at the age of 97. He was born on April 23, 1928 to Willis and Mabel (nee; Rogers) in Marine City.
Louis married Dorothy Welser on January 2, 1949 and enjoyed 73 years of marriage until she passed on June 19, 2022.
Louis was a long-time member of St. Martins Lutheran Church and choir. He sang many solos with them and the Marine City Community Choir. Louis and Dorothy enjoyed dancing, music and travel, reaching every continent except Antarctica. They were able to visit many countries and was once asked to teach dancing on a cruise ship. They also loved their Florida home, living there for 30 years until health issues had them moving back to Michigan to be with family in 2020. Louis graduated in 1946 from Marine City High School as a senior class president, star of the senior play and voted most popular and cutest. Louis loved sports and excelled in many. Leading the 1944-1945 and 1945-1946 undefeated football team as the quarterback. They were all county champs for 2 years. Louis was an all-county QB in the 45-46 season. He also played on the district champ 44-45 basketball team. He lettered in football, basketball, track and the first baseball team for Marine City High School. He bowled at Tower Bowl MC and in 1961 his team won the American Bowling Congress Championship. His 1945-1946 football team was inducted in to Marine City Hall of Fame in 1990. In his later years, golf became a favorite.

Louis worked on a Great Lakes freighter, then Chris Craft until they closed. He installed TV towers and antennas and retired from the Marine City post office as a letter carrier after 25 years.
Louis and Dorothy were proud of their large family. They are survived by their children Sue (Wayne) Forest, Louis (Juana) Lozon, Jill (Ed) Blake, Debora (Al) Warwick, grandchildren Jason Forest, Alison (Matt) McBride, Jennifer (Scott) Verhelle, Malissa Wagner, Julie (Ryan) Hand, Monica Blake, Lewis (Colleen) Blake, Gina Warwick, Stella Ryan-Lozon, Lily Ryan-Lozon, great grandchildren Audrey, Brady, Lainey, Emmett, Emerson, Eli, Joben, Mirra, Mason, Aria, Liam, Layla, Maggie and Gavin.
Preceded in death by his granddaughter Amy Lynn Forest, his brothers Willie, Jack and Howard, his sisters Helen Gaul, Mary (Tete) Balfour, Millie Greenway and Jean Beckett.
Thankyou to all the caring staff at Story Point in Chesterfield for the special care the last five and half years. Especially our hospice nurse Rae and shower aide Aramis.
Memorial contributions can be made to the donor’s choice or the Marine City Pride and Heritage Museum in Louis’s name.
A Celebration of life for Louis and Dorothy will be held at a later date.
