Lee William Emig's Obituary
Lee William Emig, age 83, of Port Huron, passed away February 23, 2025. He was born October 13, 1941 in St. Clair to the late William and Eunice Emig.
Lee married Virginia Emig December 28, 1974.
Lee was the Senior Class President of St. Clair High School’s graduating class of 1960. He continued his education by receiving his Bachelor and Master of Music Degrees at Michigan State University in 1966 and 1968 respectively. Lee’s entire life was encompassed by music. It revolved around every opportunity that presented itself to play the keyboards, direct choirs, and sing and dance. He was a vocal music teacher in Utica Community Schools and music teacher in the Port Huron Area School District for 32 years. Many will remember Lee playing organ and directing the choir at various churches throughout the St. Clair and Macomb County area or entertaining guests at the Fogcutter for 16 years, Pilot House for 10 years, as well as the Channel Marker, Fisherman’s Wharf, Junction Buoy, Portico, Reef, Executive Inn, Powers Place, and the Sheppard’s Inn. He also played in two dance bands and wrote school songs for Kimball and Harrison. Lee was a well know person in the community from his very vibrant colors of dress, to riding around in his red corvette.
Lee is survived by his nephews, David (Jennifer) Emig and Duane (Tiffany) Emig, sister-in-law, Wanetta DeMars, great-nephews Addison Emig, Austin (Karlie) Emig, great-niece Brittany (Kyle) Kerluke, and great-great-nephew Barrett Emig.
He was predeceased by his loving wife of 33 years, Virginia Emig and brother, Vaughn Emig.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 8th at 1:00 p.m. at Young Funeral Home, China Twp. Interment will be in Hillside Cemetery, St. Clair. Visiting hours are 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Saturday prior to the service.
