Joy Elizabeth Osterland's Obituary
Joy (Murray) Osterland passed away at home surrounded by her family after a 3 year battle with cancer.
She was born in Detroit on May 30, 1947 to the late Robert and Elizabeth Murray.
Joy married Robert Osterland on September 27, 1968 in Marine City. She worked as a travel agent and then later as a real estate agent which she really enjoyed.
Joy loved to travel and had been around the world, always looking forward to an adventure. She also loved to garden, especially her flower garden. She was an accomplished seamstress who was involved in all types of textile arts and she belonged to numerous art and quilting groups.
Joy loved to entertain, especially in her backyard and her door was always open to friends and family.
She is survived by her husband; Robert Osterland, daughters; Rebecca Osterland (Jeffery Owens) and Rachael (Ricardo) Robles, and grandchildren; Darinka, Acton and Emily Robles.
She is also survived by her brother; Dr. Dan (Fran) Murray, Bonnie Sumner, and Shannon Murray,
along with her mother in-law; Jeanette Osterland, brothers and sisters in-law; Richard (Kay) Osterland,
Larry (Pam) Osterland, Jerry (Mary) Osterland, Ray Osterland, Anne (Hale) Walker, Mary Jo (Alan) MacDonald and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father in-law; Wilfred Osterland.
Joy was a colorful and vibrant person so please dress with that in mind.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 10 at Young Funeral Home, China Twp.
Visiting hours will be Wednesday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Thursday one hour prior to the service. Memorials are suggested to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. www.stjude.org
