Dear John Belisle, Your Great Grandson Is My Best friend REst Well I salute You rest well
this is who I am:
this man was my great grandfather. I'm one of the great-grandchildren. i...am...Matthew John DeBoever-Salo. I wrote this note for him: "Dear, Papa John,
I really miss you and I wish you were still alive. I was really sad to hear about you dying.
I just want to see you again, because you were always there for me when I was sad or angry… you really helped me. When I heard you had an illness I was immediately scared!
I wanted you to feel better and have some more fun with me.
But when you first became ill… I knew you would not make it.
That's why I wish you were still here. :’(
I salute you because you were in the navy... thank you for your service Papa John.
-Matthew DeBoever-Salo
Aka: your family.
I love you.''
this man... was a great man. amen.
this quote is for you papa john: "war is not war...but chaos"

May our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our Father, who loved us and gave everlasting comfort and good hope by means of undeserved kindness, comfort your hearts and make you firm.”—2 Thess. 2:16, 17. - Christine
John and I first met on July 18, 1967—over fifty (50) years ago—the day we entered on active duty in the United States Marine Corps and reported to historic Fort Wayne in Detroit as we began an odyssey that changed and bonded us forever; first to Marine Corps Recruit Depot in San Diego, California for recruit training, then to infantry training in Camp Pendleton, California before heading to our assignments in Viet Nam. What a odyssey it was too. We were young—just eighteen (18) years old and right out of high school—naive and idealistic, so nothing could have prepared us for what we were to experience, but we survived and we thrived; we learned, got better and we passed our experiences to others. Thank you for your support along a most difficult path John. May an all-knowing, all-loving, all-merciful all-powerful, all-forgiving God wrap you in his strong arms and hold you next to his tender loving breast for all eternity. Rest in peace my friend and brother-in-arms. ~~ Semper Fidelis!!!
