Joan Elaine Dunsmore (Grant)'s Obituary
Joan Elaine Dunsmore (Grant) age 82, of St. Clair, peacefully went to be with the Lord on June 4, 2022. She was born in Detroit on October 23, 1939 to the late Arthur and Alberta Grant. Joan was a graduate of Denby High School, class of 1957. Following high school, Joan went on to Michigan State University where she received her Bachelor’s degree in Police Administration. After college, she took great pride in working for the school police department. Joan married Robert Dunsmore on September 10, 1960. She was a longtime member at Immanuel Lutheran Church as well as a campfire girl leader. Joan enjoyed world traveling especially cruising. Most often her travels to Europe included visits to Scotland and England to visit family. One of her most favorite cruise experiences was a trip down the Amazon River.
In her spare time, Joan enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting, baking; in recent years, she developed an interest in painting and playing piano. Above all, Joan cherished the time she spent with her family. Family was everything to her.
She is survived by her husband, Robert “Bob”; daughters, Heather Dunsmore, Hilary (Gary) Miller, Heidi (David) Wilton; grandchildren, Grant (Elianne) Miller, Meghan, Erin, Andrew, Diana, Delaney, Danielle; and brother, Mark (Jacqui) Grant.
A memorial service will be Monday, June 13 at 10:00 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church, St. Clair. With a luncheon to follow the service. Visiting hours will be Sunday, June 12 from 2:00 – 4:00 and 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Young Funeral Home, China Twp. Memorials are suggested to Leader dogs for the blind or Immanuel Lutheran Church.
