Jean Patricia Meier's Obituary
A Life of Love, Laughter, and Lifelong Bonds
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Jean Patricia Meier, age 69, on September 1, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on April 13, 1956, in Detroit, Michigan, Jean grew up in the Metro Detroit area and graduated from Fraser High School. Her life was marked by quiet strength, compassion, and a deep devotion to those she loved.
Family was everything to Jean. She shared an especially close and enduring bond with her mother, Patricia Freckelton—a relationship built on love, friendship, and deep mutual respect. Patricia was not only Jean’s mother but also her most trusted confidante. Their connection remained strong throughout Jean’s life and was a constant source of support and warmth.
Jean also had a meaningful and cherished relationship with her father, Laverne Badgero, who passed way to early at age 50. Growing up, Jean shared many formative moments with her dad, who influenced her with his guidance and care. Their bond, full of quiet encouragement and mutual respect, helped shape Jean’s strength and character throughout her life. Jean will be buried with him.
Jean's greatest joys were her son and grandchildren, and daughter in law. Her bond with her son Mike was extraordinary marked by laughter, deep understanding, and a closeness that often felt more like siblings than mother and son. Jean also had a warm and loving relationship with her daughter-in-law, Karyn, whose care and companionship brought Jean comfort and peace, especially over the past 13 years.
Her grandchildren—Brody, Lexi, Luke, and Sean—were the light of her life. Their laughter, energy, and presence never failed to bring a big smile to her face.
Jean also held deep, cherished bonds with many in her extended family- her mother-in-law Mary Ann Cornwall, and her father-in-law John Cornwall. Her stepfather, Don Freckelton, and her sister-in-law, Colleen Malcolm, were also important figures in her life—sharing countless memories and support through the years.
Jean also held deep, lifelong connections with her siblings. She shared a uniquely close bond with her twin brother, Johnny, who was not only her twin but also one of her dearest friends. Her relationships with her sister Patti Linden (husband Wayne) and her brother Bob Badgero (wife Kathy), were also filled with love, support, and cherished memories.
Jean’s life was enriched by the many special people around her, and the memory of those who went before her: her mother Patricia Freckelton (Badgero), father Laverne Badgero, stepfather Don Freckelton, mother-in-law Mary Ann Cornwall, father-in-law John Cornwall, and Grandmother Gertrude Zahn.
She is survived by her son Mike and daughter in law Karyn; grandchildren, Brody, Lexi, Luke, and Sean; siblings, Johnny, Patti Linden (Wayne), and Bob Badgero (Kathy) and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who were touched by her love and kindness.
A memorial mass will be held on Friday, September 12th at 10:00 a.m. at St. Clement of Rome Catholic Church, Romeo to honor and celebrate Jean’s beautiful life. The family will receive visitors at the church prior to mass from 9:30 to 10:00 a.m. All who knew her are welcome to attend and share in her memory.
