Jacqueline Anne (Kane) Ingles' Obituary
Jackie was born the 7th of 14 children December 21, 1940 in Detroit, MI to James and Anne (Stephanowski) Kane. Their family relocated to Memphis, MI when she was 6 years old. At the young age of 14, she lost her mother to a stroke. Her father remarried after a couple years to Elizabeth “Betty” (Bush) Kane who brought four step siblings into the family. Together James & Betty had one son and adopted one son. This brought the family to a grand total of 20 “brothers and sisters”.
In 1976, Jackie attended and graduated from St. Clair Community College’s LPN program and later returned to complete her RN degree. She was employed as a Med-Surg nurse at Mercy Hospital Port Huron, St. John Hospital Detroit, and retired from St. John River District in 2009. After retirement, she continued to share her passion for caregiving by working as a hospice respite visitor for the VNA.
Above and beyond her profession as a nurse, Jackie’s true love and calling was being a mother, a grandmother, and great grandmother. She was also “Gramma Jackie” to countless St. Clair and Marine City students and faculty. Jackie was a regular volunteer in East China School’s special needs classrooms and Special Olympic events at CMU.
Jackie is survived by her four children: Yvonne (Jay) Lynch, Mike (Lori) Ingles, Melanie (Kevin) Freeman and Greg (Mike Cohrs) Ingles; her grandchildren: Alex Freeman, Jackie (dec. Nikki) Freeman, Judy (Kevin) Metschke, Addie (Mickey) Sanders, Mallory Lynch, Rebecca (Rachel Boisvenu) Ingles, Courtney (Jared) Laughlin, Katie Freeman; and her great grandchildren: Ellie Freemanikko, Oliver & Otto Metschke, Isabelle Sanders, Russell & Rae Laughlin. She is also survived by seven “brothers & sisters” and many nieces and nephews.
Jackie was predeceased by her parents, James & Anne Kane, her stepmother Betty, brothers & sisters, Jim, Dave, Dick, Al, Bill, Pat Gehrig, Mike, Joanne Laming, Paul, Tony, Charlie, & Mary Weiss, as well as former husband, Bill Ingles. She was also preceded in death by grandchildren Joe, Caleigh & Connor Lynch and grand daughter-in-law, Nikki Barco.
