Harold W. LePior's Obituary
Harold W. LePior, age 89, of East China, passed away surrounded by his loving family on September 10, 2025. He was born on August 14, 1936 to the late Harold LePior and Nellie Wolf. Harold was a graduate of Marine City High School, class of 1954. He went on to Eastern Michigan University, where he earned his Master’s Degree in Special Education. He worked 34 years for the East China School District. Harold married the love of his life, Janice Welser on December 28, 1963. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force for 4 years. Harold lived a full and active life. In his younger years, Harold enjoyed riding motorcycles and later developed a passion for collecting antique cars. Family was at the center of Harold’s life. He enjoyed spending time at the cottage in Lexington with his son-in-law, Paul. He especially treasured the time he spent with his grandson, Chad and beloved great granddaughter, Julianne. He took great pride in watching Chad grow up and succeed. Harold cherished the time he spent with his nieces and nephews. Harold was an exercise enthusiast, maintaining a healthy and active lifestyle throughout his life. Those who knew him, will remember his quick wit, easy smile, and his ability to bring light hearted humor into any conversation.
He is survived by his wife, Janice; daughters, Nancy LePior, K.C. (Paul) Amato; grandson, Dr. Chad (Melanie) Amato; great granddaughter, Julianne; sisters, Maxine (Dave) Ross, Pam Blackwell; nieces and nephews, Patty, Mary Beth (Dave), Marcia (Tom), Michael (Lori), Francie (late Kevin), Meg (Ted), Barbie (Greg); brother-in-law, David (Lou Ann), as well as several other nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, family members and friends.
He is preceded in death by his son, Richard; step father, Max Wolf, step mother, Lynn LePior; brother, Rick Wolf; parents-in-law, Norman (Bernadette) Welser; brother-in-law, Norm (Tia) Welser.
A memorial service and military honors will take place on Monday, September 15th at 7:00 p.m. at Young Funeral Home, China Twp. Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. prior to the service on Monday. Memorials are suggested to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
