I first met Harold Danneels at the local Big Boy restaurant when I moved to Marine City in 2014. Harold was a true gentleman. He was always willing to share his wisdom as we ran errands together to the Post Office or grocery store. He told stories about his experiences in the Navy during WW2 and anecdotes about living and working in Marine City. He actually built the garage at my house many years ago. He also grew awesome garden peppers and green onions. I am grateful for the many good discussions and laughs we shared. Harold was a good friend and I miss his company. Rest In Peace my friend and may God Bless. My condolences to the family.

Harold was a legend within the Ed Steinmetz family, and within all of Marine City. My Dad, Ed Steinmetz, would never consider a project involving concrete without checking first with Harold to make certain it was done correctly. My brothers, Paul and Matt, worked for Harold for many summers and love to tell stories of their times with him. He is a gentleman who will be long remembered as an example of the best of Marine City.

Herald was a huge mentor to me as I startred my career as a building contractor in Marine City, He continued as my friend for over 40 years and I will always be greatful for his friendship and wisdom. Those who knew him would watch for that hand on the steering wheel as he went by as one finger would point up as his gesture of hi and it was not the middle finger...
