Gary D. Stockton's Obituary
Gary D. Stockton, age 80, of Casco Twp., passed away peacefully January 4, 2026. He was born June 29, 1945 in Cookeville, Tennessee to the late Roy and Geraldine Stockton.
On January 22, 1972, Gary married Janice Marker and they enjoyed 53 years of marriage.
Gary grew up in St. Clair Shores, but he was a country boy and his heart never left Tennessee. As a child he looked forward to spending his summers with his grandparents in Cookeville and in his teens Gary had a passion for working on cars. Gary enjoyed traveling and had visited all 50 states, most while driving truck. His most memorable trip was when he visited Japan. Gary’s personality was bigger than life itself. He enjoyed nothing more than being with his family and friends sharing stories. His most special moments in life came when he was sharing time with his granddaughter Brooklynn, she was his everything.
Gary is survived by his wife, Janice Stockton; son, Daniel Stockton; granddaughter, Brooklynn Stockton; brother, Alan (Jane) Stockton; brothers in law and sister in law, Richard Tillman and Jim and Leslie Marker and several special nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his sister, Teresa Tillman; brother in law, Tom Marker and father in law and mother in law, Fred and Lucile Marker.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 13th at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Casco Twp. Interment will be in St. Paul’s Cemetery. Visiting hours are Monday, January 12th from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Young Funeral Home, China Twp. and Tuesday 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at church prior to service.
