Freddie "Fred" H. Pearl's Obituary
Freddie “Fred” H. Pearl, age 87, of St. Clair, passed away April 4, 2016 with his family by his side. Fred was born March 10, 1929 in Mt. Clemens to Harold and Erma Pearl. After they moved to Richmond, Mich. Fred attended Richmond High School and graduated in 1946. Fred married Dorothy Kolla on February 1, 1947.
Fred was employed at Diamond Crystal Salt Co. in 1947. He started as a janitor and working his way up to Plant Superintendent retiring in 1991. He also worked a second job at Roley’s Shell Gas Station in St. Clair for 15 years.
He and Dorothy loved to travel. They took many wonderful trips all across the United States. They loved Las Vegas and Fred thought nothing of getting up one morning and asking “Dot” if she wanted to go to Vegas the next day. In their later years they enjoyed going to Soaring Eagle in Mt. Pleasant as often as they could.
Fred and Dot took each of their grandchildren to Disney World. When each of his four daughters turned 21, off they went to Las Vegas. He was truly loving and giving father and grandfather. He taught us all the true meaning of marriage and family. He honored each and every one of his marriage vows. During 69 years of marriage there were the usual ups and downs, but through it all he never lost respect for his wife and loved her more the next day than the last. His five “Girls” were his greatest joy.
Besides his wife, Fred leaves behind 4 daughters; Terri (Lee) Willis, Linda Stephan, Kathy (Jess) DeLisle and Mary (Jim) Pecor, grandchildren; Barb (Shawn) Weiss, Jason (Ashley) Kish, Bonny (Rick) Smit, Jodi Stephan, John (Amanda Stephan), Rilee (Brad) Young, Chad DeLisle, Kelli (Jerry) Bean and Jimmy (Casey) Pecor, great grandchildren; Tyler Kish, Andrew Beggs, Brenna (Jacob) Hazzard, J.D. Stephan, Josh and Lee Smit and one great grandchild expected in October. Also surviving are brothers; Bernard, Vern and Harvey Pearl, sister, Jean Kelley, sisters in law and brothers in law; Margie Burgess, Marion (Ron) Howison and Frank Kolla and many nieces and nephews.
“Gramps” was taken care of for the last 2 years by his granddaughter, Barbara Weiss. Her love and caring kept him going and was a great help to her grandma, taking care of all their needs. Special thanks to Reverence Hospice and Home Care for their kindness and helpfulness and son in law, Lee Willis for staying with Dad when needed.
Cremation has taken place and a celebration of his life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Salvation Army, Council on Aging or United Way of St. Clair County. Arrangements by Young Funeral Home, China Twp.
