My condolences to the entire Pearl family on the passing of Fred. I worked for Fred at Diamond Crystal in the 70's and have had numerous relatives who have worked with Fred or for him. Fred was the Superintendent of the Dry End of the plant, where I worked at that time. To this very day, Fred was one of the best Superintendents we have ever had at that plant, and his retirement was a sad day for many of us there..To the few people there still who are former Diamond employees, the news of Fred's passing was another sad day. Fred knew the plant, knew the salt business , liked people, and was extremely efficient in keeping the plant operating. He was always a gentleman, and a warm and friendly person. The caliber of his professionalism, his devotion, dedication, and commitment to that plant and to the Diamond Crystal Salt Company is noted in his rise from Janitor to become the 'Dry End Superintendent', where he was in charge of six Departments, their respective foremen and supervisors , as well as approx. 120 employees. During Fred's time as Superintendent, he implemented and oversaw the addition of modern Packaging equipment into the plant, and brought it out of the stone age as well. Fred was liked and respected. As his family, you all can take great pride in Fred, as well as in his achievements, his leadership, and his accomplishments during his career at the Diamond ----- believe me, Fred Pearl made a hell of a difference in that plant. I am so very sorry for your loss and greatly saddened, but in the passing of this man, we all who have known him, and walked in his shadow, are at a loss today. Rest In Peace Fred.
