Dear Paul, Sylvia and family,
What can I say about Peg. For almost 19 years she has been with me. We had a special friendship, I'm not even sure how it started, but I will always be honored that she trusted me enough to confide in me and come to me for so many things. Every November it was, "Listen kid, don't you think it's time for you to order the nuts?" I would call Hawaii and order 12 boxes on my charge card...she always paid me!
She called me at home to let me know there were not many bubbles in the fish tank, and it was Peg who named the ugliest fish in the tank "Daisy", cause she needed a pretty name. She loved the fish and was proud of the job she had feeding them. She did a good job.
We mourned Sylvester together.
In the early days, she did many tours. She was proud of where she lived and loved to show it off. She couldn't understand those people who didn't want to come and live there.
The hearing aid...."Jan, this thing doesn't work. I don't know kid, I think it's broken." I would dig the wax out of it and hand it back to her. Miraculously she could hear again! She would smile and be on her way.
The days are not ever going to be the same again. There will never be another Peg telling me what needed to be done, or that there wasn't enough breakfast out on the calendar.
Now the day has come for me to say, "Listen Peg, you have a good rest, and don't worry, I'll be ok, you trained me well"
