Ellen Barbara Swensen's Obituary
Ellen Barbara Swensen, age 64, of St. Clair Twp., passed away Wednesday, October 18, 2017. She was born April 6, 1953 in Detroit to the late Joseph and Pauline Simo. Ellen was the youngest of 4 children. She graduated from Edsel Ford High School in 1971. In 1972 she joined the Army and became a dental hygienist and served in Korea for 1 Year. She retired in 2013 from the Army National Guard as Sergeant First Class. Ellen had a 35 year career as a civil servant at Selfridge Air National Guard Base. Ellen will always be remembered for her bright smile, kind heart, and strong will.
She is survived by her husband of 34 years, David Swensen; daughter Keri (Jason) Sikora; and grandchildren, Elena and Aiden.
She is preceded in death by her sister, Susan Simo
Her funeral service will be held Monday, Oct. 23 at 11:30 a.m. with military honors following the service at Young Funeral Home, China Twp. Visiting hours will be Sunday, Oct 22nd, 5:00-8:00 p.m. and Monday one hour prior to the service at Young Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to the wishes of the family.
