Donald Fred Davenport's Obituary
With broken and heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Donald Fred Davenport, Sr. of China TWP.
Don was born on April 11, 1946. In Mt. Clemens, MI. Don was the 5th child born to the late Harold L. Davenport and Martha (Scruggs) Davenport. Don is survived by his wife Jane
Don worked as a pipefitter, retiring in 2004 from the Pipefitter’s Union Local #636, after 34 years of dedicated service.
Don married Sandy K. Freeman on August 7, 1965. Sandy sadly passed away suddenly on July 18, 1999. Don and Sandy shared almost 34 years of marriage. They were blessed with five children: Donald F. Jr. (Julie), David, Daniel (Denise), Shelly, Steven (Betsy); Ten Grandchildren; David (Hannah), Megan (Glover) Iyoha, Jessica (Alejandro) Correa, Jacob, Jeremy, Cora, Lance, Drew, Dylan and Preston; Four Great-grandchildren: Savannah, Zara, Ava Iyoha and Brady Davenport
Don married Jane M. McCalla on June 3, 2000. Together they continued to work, grow and enjoy the small farm that Don and Sandy loved and raised their family on, that they bought in 1976. Don was preceded in death by his siblings: Dorothy Bolin, Harold L. Davenport, Jr., Shirley Mayo and Elmer Davenport. His sister and brothers-in-law: Nita Davenport, Donald Mayo, Larry Freeman, James E. McCalla and Donald A. McCalla. His In-Laws: Leroy and Shirley Freeman, Albert and Barbara McCalla.
Don is survived by his sisters and brothers In-law: James Bolin, Diane McCalla, Marilyn (Dennis) Browning, Carolyn Hosford, Joyce (Charles) Frank and several dear nieces, nephews and friends.
Don was a quiet man, a deep thinker. Don took pride with dedication in any and all tasks that were presented to him.
He could “Fix anything” not by any means did he ever say that of himself. We the one’s that loved and admired him, believed that, as he was a humble man.
Don will be dearly missed by everyone that knew and loved him. Rest in peace Don.
A funeral service will take place on Monday, November 4th at 12 noon at Young Funeral Home, China Twp. Visiting hours are 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. prior to the service.
