Dennis "Bill" McCabe's Obituary
Dennis “Bill” McCabe, age 69, of East China Twp., died January 31, 2017 following a courageous battle with cancer. He was born the fourth of thirteen children on May 18, 1947 to the late Thomas and Elizabeth McCabe in Detroit.
Bill graduated from Clintondale High School and entered the U.S. Air Force shortly after graduation. He served 35 years at Selfridge Air National Guard retiring as a Senior Master Sergeant. On May 22, 1970 Bill married Marie McLeod in St. Clair. Bill was an avid golfer. He found great joy in attending his grandchildren’s sporting events and spending time up north at his cabin in Lewiston with his family.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Marie McCabe, children, Kelly (Michael) Richmond, Dennis McCabe (Kelly), Joseph McCabe and Jamie (Aaron) Amshay; grandchildren, Austin, Elle, Mitchell, Jax, Sydney, Kenadee, Payton, Branden and Raegan; siblings, Maribeth (Augie), Thomas (Kathy), Sharon (Carl), Cindy (Bill), Robert (Cheryl) and Mike (Kim); sisters in law, Patricia and Sue; brother in law, David and many special nieces, nephews and brothers in law and sisters in law.
He was preceded in death by siblings, Patrick, Daniel, Timothy, Richard, Diane and Debbie.
Mass of Resurrection will be Saturday February 4th at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, St. Clair. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Visiting hours are Friday 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Young Funeral Home, China Twp. with rosary recital at 7:00 p.m. Additional visitation Saturday 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at church.
