To one of my best friends ever! You and David welcomed me and Todd into Marine City and were our best friends there for years. So many fond memories hanging out in the river and just being young, fun kids. God bless you, my friend. I’m forever grateful for your friendship.
Love,

Fond memories of my “cousin in crime!” Same age, same grade, always giggling over something or other… Our ultimate time spent together was when my family had a medical emergency and I went to live with Debbie, David, Rosemary and Chuck, whose home was directly across from our church and school, and was warmly welcomed into their home for the months to come. At the time the new Holy Cross Grade School was being built. Father Brown talked with all students and sternly told us not to visit the construction site as it was once a burial ground. That warning fell on 7 yr old deaf ears - who could resist the mountains of dirt to climb on and hide behind?! Needless to say, we found some “bones,” which were not the dog hiding kind. We left them on site, but guiltily reported the findings to Rosemary and Chuck, who in turn called the Rectory and spoke to the priest. A short time later, Fr. Brown came to visit the house to “interview” us about our discovery. We were very contrite and relieved that our punishment was a scolding, promise of not returning to the site…oh, and being sent to our bedroom, which we shared, and provided a space to plot our next adventure!
Rest Well dear cousin, love you and hold dear the time we spent growing up together… Mary Steinmetz Wit, Chapel Hill, NC
I will always see Debbie as my ever-so-cool older cousin—her mop of short blonde curls as sunny as her always-present smile. She was beyond clever and always funny—and loved by all who knew her. Great childhood memories time spent at holiday gatherings and family picnics and summers. Rest in peace, dear cuz. Keep them laughing up there. ;-)
