David Boyd Wood's Obituary
On March 2, 2016 David B. Wood passed away unexpectedly at his home. A resident of Marine City for 37 years, David was born in Detroit on April 18, 1948 to the late Donald and Vivienne Wood. He married Lorraine Winfield on September 29, 1967 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Roseville. He was tool and die maker for Ford Motor Company, Dave put in 40 years before retiring.
Dave was a tower of strength who held up not just the lives of his immediate family, but was a friend and role model to everyone who knew him. He was a selfless man who could always be counted on to do the right thing, even if it wasn't the easy thing to do. He touched the lives of everyone who knew him and will be greatly missed.
David is survived by his soulmate and wife of 48 years; Lorraine Wood and four wonderful children; Christine (Richard) Schrader, Kathleen (Holly) Wood, Colleen (Christopher) Ellery, Matthew (Dawn) Wood, his grandchildren; Ryan Spaulding, Nicholas Wood, Sheldon and Sylvia Ryti, Amber and Samantha Anderson and Annabelle Wood, great-grandchildren; Ashden and Jordan Spaulding.
He is also survived by his sisters; Janet Wood, Linda (Richard) Mastin, Diana (David) Jeffers, his mother in-law; Eva Winfield, brother and sister in-laws; James (Cheryl) Winfield, John Winfield, Dennis Winfield, David (Sharon) Winfield, Joseph Winfield, Thomas Winfield, Linda (Ronald) Mickey, Leslie (Michael) Baker, and many nieces, nephews, and close family friends. He was preceded in death by his father in-law; Charles E. Winfield, and sister in-law; Carol Winfield.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 19 at Young Funeral Home, China Twp. The family will welcome family and friends one hour prior to the service.
