Lorraine, Linda & Rick, Dee Dee & Dave:
Hey kids this is your cousin Russell. I finally cobbled together the information on all you Woods. Needless to say I was shocked and my heart goes out to each of you on David's passing. The last time I was able to talk with Dave was when my sister Carole passed. God Bless Dave and know he was loved by many.
I have many fond memories of Dave and all the Woods of Roseville.
I can remember helping Uncle Don and my Dad load in a engine into the basement.of your home.. Uncle Don and my Dad utilized slave labor ( David, Bruce and myself ) to help get the motor into the basement. I think we we there just in case they needed a cushion in case the motor got away from them.
I remember many fond days David leading forays into the wilds of the ditches. Jumping into the ditches in front of your house to capture turtles, and snakes, occasionally getting a snake bite. Luckily they were Garter and water snakes who basically were more scared of us than we of them.
The wood lot adjacent to your house were a blast playing hide and seek except when your head ran into one of those orb weaver spider webs. They were those big monsters that always had you swatting at your head in case they actually lighted on the old noggin. Don't forget the poison ivy, that was always fun.
Then there was the infamous boat with the motorcycle engine that had the major hornet/wasp nest which had all of us bailing out of the boat and running like mad. Good times.
David was always the calm one ready to laugh and keep an even keel. I admired his calmness and warm personality. I think my mom still has a photo of David, Gordon and I sitting in one of those 6" deep plastic pools in our tidy whiteys and David sporing a big bandaid on his head. .
I pray you all find comfort knowing such a wonderful man entered all our lives.
God Bless you all.
Love,
Russell
