Dave Mason
Several decades ago, Dale was the neighbor of a good friend, liked beer, and good conversation. His interesting life and ambitions were a joy to hear and see. He carved outstanding renditions of ducks, fish, and whatever else might come to his mind. Dale was a true artist. He also shared great stories. Among them were trolling for walleye around the head of Russell Island at midnight and great descriptions of what he saw/retrieved from the depths when diving our lakes and rivers.
Dale met, and eventually married Cheryl, a true love of his life. During one of my visits, he had on display a beautifully carve life-sized swan. It was a gift to her and secretly contained a love letter inside sealed behind a hidden panel. This was meant to be discovered at a much later date. I only mention this now because its full disclosure happened pretty quick at the time.
Through the years running into Dale always brought a light to the moment. He was kind, generous, and there if you needed him.
Rest In Peace my friend,
Dave Mason
