Colette Ann Gauthier's Obituary
Colette Ann Gauthier, 52, of Clay Township, went “Home” on April 10, 2016.
She is more alive now than she ever was and is gathered up in the presences of her Heavenly Father. Although her hard fought battle with breast cancer is over, she was victorious in life! For Colette, death was defeated on the cross.
Colette was born to Ray Gauthier and the late Anita Gauthier, February 7, 1964, in St. Clair, Michigan. She is survived by her sons, David Paeth and Jacob Hogan, her father Ray Gauthier, brother, Gary (Rebecca) Gauthier, sister Brigette (Kim) Mills, nieces Gabrielle and Kayleigh Gauthier, many friends, and dearly loved members of her church family.
Colette was a graduate of Richmond High School, held an Associate’s degree in graphic arts from St. Clair County Community College, and a Bachelors of Arts in Family Life Education from Spring Arbor University. She was employed 22 years in the newspaper industry in capacities ranging from Art Director, to Office Manager, and was later employed at Masonic Pathways Senior Living Center in Alma, MI as a counselor and as a Hospice volunteer.
Colette’s greatest passion, and (she would count) most important contributions to this world, were serving others, and sharing the gospel message. Her heart overflowed with compassion for the less fortunate. She was the founder and administrator of “Hands for Heaven”, an on-line site to share what she and others were doing, and could do, as God’s “hands and feet on the ground”, to help others in need. She was co-founder and administrator of “The Closed Metastatic (Advanced) Breast Cancer Support Group”, another on-line support group for those who face the incurable, yet live on selflessly while encouraging others.
In her “spare” volunteer time she loved helping with “Operation Christmas Child”, a division of the Samaritan’s Purse organization whose mission is reaching hurting people in countries around the world with food, medicine, and other assistance in the Name of Jesus Christ. She was a member of Crossroads Community Church where she was active in prayer groups and Bible studies. Colette had an insatiable, contagious smile, sense of humor, and wit. She was loved dearly by all who knew her.
Visitation and sharing will be held at Young Funeral Home, 4061 St. Clair Hwy., East China, MI, on Thursday, April 14, from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. A celebration of Colette’s life will take place at Young’s on Friday, April 15, at 11:00 a.m., with visitation preceding at 10:00 a.m.
Colette loved to share her faith, and her minimal earthly riches with those less fortunate than herself, and wishes to further that discipleship by directing memorials payable to “Samaritan’s Purse”, “Operation Christmas Child” in the memo line.
