Charles "Chuck" R. Miller, Sr., age 77, of of Marine City, passed away December 1, 2013 surrounded by his loving family after a long battle with Parkinson's disease and Dementia. He was born to the late Clesson and Emma Miller on Read Obituary
I was very saddened to hear about the loss of Chuck....he was respected and loved by many. He was very fair and always challenged those who worked for him. I will never forget working for him in the "Tanury days". Thoughts and prayers go out to the family!!
So sorry about your loss, he was a great boss of mine when I was very young and just getting started. I worked for him at Tanury's, my first real job. He was demanding and fair and didn't hold back. I remember many laughs and a few arguments, an argument you know you would win, only hope for a draw/tie. I don't think I'd be where i am today without that time at Tanury's and especially knowing Chuck. What a memory he had, almost scary, he remembered stuff about me better than I did. I did tell him thanks at his retirement party, I wish i could tell him again, he touched so many lifes and made us all better people. Sorry I couldn't be there today, God bless you Chuck, rest in peace!!!
I only had the pleasure of working in Chuck’s group at Stellar for a few years but it was definitely a high point of my time in this drafting business. Howard Aho summed up what a truly great boss we had in Chuck Miller. He never expected us to work any harder than he worked himself & we all knew he was a hard worker. There were no problems you couldn’t take to him. You might get a pat on the back or a boot in the rear but it was always just what you needed at the time.
After Chuck retired he found out that my Mother had passed away after a long illness. I will never forget that he stopped in at the office & offered his condolences to me. I regret now that I am not able to do the same for his family especially Chuck Jr. who I know not only loved his father but admired & respected him.
Rest in Peace Chuck, you are missed by many people.

So sorry for your loss. I have so many fond memories of Chuck. Chuck gave me my first job in the automotive field at Tanury in Troy at 18. He taught us the business and you had to prove yourself worthy in his eyes to advance in your career, all due to his love for the company. You had to earn his trust, and if you did you were golden. He was tough but a fair boss. Many of my favorite stories come from working with him. May God bless you with fond memories and comfort.

Very sorry to hear of Chuck's passing. I was 18 when I started at Stellar. Chuck was a tough but very competent leader. We worked at Stellar and then Tanury. After the Service, I knew I needed to get serious about a career. I went to Chuck and let him know. He had enough confidence in me to make me a Checker for which I will be eternally grateful. I learned enough from him that I was abIe to go on to GM and took work back to him. He helped a lot us young guys learn the business. He came to my wedding which I thought was extremely nice of him. He was good enough to bring my sons in to also worked for him as they were in their college years which helped us a lot with expenses. I knew his brother, son and nephews. I will always remember him. He could be tough but was always fair (nobody messed with him) Sorry I couldn't be there for the service. My thoughts are with you all.

I was thinking about how many lives Chuck touched. Hiring all of us kids way back when. He probably never realized the impact he had on so many people lives. He was a tough boss, a raging bull one minute and a heart of gold the next. He taught me a lot about engineering. I have very fond memories of working at JTA. There was great bunch of people to work with and it was all due to Chuck. I can always remember Chuck walking down the aisle saying “I won’t be happy until everyone of these women are outta here” LOL. Thanks for hiring me Chuck! Rest in peace.
My condolences to the family. Chuck hired me in right out of college. He was a no nonsense boss, tough, but always fair. He gave me the opportunity to advance in my career by placing me into Fisher Body as a contract engineer. I will always be grateful to him for putting me into a position that would help shape the rest of my career. I did run into him a few times after that in Marine City and always enjoyed talking to him. He was a great guy. I know he will never be forgotten.
Chuck gave me my first job in the Auto Engineering business. He was an "old school" boss. He set me straight on more than one occasion LOL. He wasnt always easy to work for but he was always fair, hardworking and honest. They dont make them like Chuck Miller anymore.

I worked for Chuck for 20 years...sometimes difficult and sometimes easy. The world has lost an honest man and a great boss.The fur did fly between us at times, but the work got done to everyones satisfaction.For those of us who did know him will never forget "who works for who around here?"... "sure you WANT a raise,but,have you earned one?"..."you worry about your job and I'll take care of you".These tidbits of knowledge stay with us all.The man was hard working guy,and you could take to the bank anything he told you. To the family I extend my condolences.

Chuck was my boss at James Tanury & Associates in Troy back in the early 70s. His brother Fred also worked there at the time. I was a college student and Chuck very kindly let me come in to work after classes were completed for the day. We would also do occasional detail work on some of his many & various vehicles and were granted extra time-off bonuses.... What a great guy to work for! I can honestly say that during my subsequent 30-year career in the auto industry I never had a more likeable, decent, funny and honest boss. I will certainly never forget him.
