I was so sad to hear the news about Dad. He was my second Dad. I was always welcomed into the Sprader Family as one of the kids. We had so many good times. I learned to play euchre, learned to smoke a tiparillo-with Cindy and Cherylynn's help (which were dads of course), learned to drink a beer (also dads), and learned to have a good belly laugh with this family. Once when I was in college and had to eat asparagus for a science class, which basically made me an expert on all things asparagus, I told mom how to prepare it. I said you cut an inch off of each end and boil it. I really had no idea, but thought that is how the professor must of made it. The next day she said WOW was Willie mad that you told me to throw the best part out. I was afraid this was going to be the first time that he was actually going to be mad, but no he just laughed. For him all of our mistakes were teaching moments. He was very generous- changed my brakes when I was in college. Cut down trees in my yard when we were newlyweds. This is also when I noticed his physical strength because he was throwing the pieces of branches down in fireplace log size, huge saw in one hand and log in the other. He loved to tell stories that were entertaining and we could sit for hours gabbing like girlfriends do. Over the years we get busy and time doesn't permit or we don't see it slipping and I did not see him as often as I would have liked to. He is a great man that I will always have fond memories of. I can't think of my younger years without thinking of your family. I wish all of you strength, peace, healing and a huge hug during this difficult time. I smile thinking that now Mom has her Willie back.
Love,
Chris McCoy
