Arthur F. Heymoss Jr.'s Obituary
Arthur F. Heymoss Jr., 75, of St. Clair, MI passed away peacefully at his home on March 19, 2025. Art was born on July 30, 1949, in Detroit, MI to Arthur F. Heymoss Sr. and Doris (Krause) Heymoss. After growing up in the area and graduating from Lutheran High School East, Art pursued and attained his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in education from Eastern Michigan University, becoming the only person in his family to attend college, an accomplishment of which he was very proud. While at Eastern Art met Linda Dobson, who he married on July 14, 1972 in Detroit.
Art and Linda settled in Harrison Township, MI, raising their children Sarah and Nathan. A lifelong educator, Art spent 36 years teaching high school English at Tower Warren Woods and Andover High School in Bloomfield Hills. Art retired from teaching in 2010 and was able to focus on his love of family, reading, and world travel. He cherished his winters and summers in northern Michigan, whether downhill skiing or spending time at his cottage on West Twin Lake in Lewiston. Art enjoyed summers on the water aboard his pontoon boat and late-night campfires surrounded by his four grandchildren.
Art is survived by Linda, his wife of over 52 years, his daughter, Sarah (Todd) Wills of St. Clair, his son Nathan (Jennifer) Heymoss of Kalamazoo, MI, and his grandchildren Sam and Abby Wills and Henry and Hugo Heymoss who he adored. Art’s brother Mark Heymoss, and Art’s extended family, including his brothers and sisters-in-law and many nieces and nephews, were incredibly important to him. A memorial service to honor Art’s life will be planned at a later time. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to St. Clair County Humane Society, SNAP, 6177 Fred W Moore Hwy., China Twp., MI 48054. To leave a message of comfort visit www.youngcolonial.com
