Dear Mom,
I know you never liked to make a big fuss about things, even with your final wishes. But I can’t let you go without saying how much I love and appreciate you. Thank you for giving me life. Thank you for being my mother. Thank you for raising me in the Catholic faith. Thank you for the countless sacrifices you made for us over the years. It wasn’t always easy but you always did the best you could for your family. I remember how you used to sew all our clothes and even our dolls clothes. It was so much fun shopping for material and patterns for dresses for school dances. We may not have liked it at the time but you taught us all how to cook and to clean and to garden and how to keep house. You helped with our homework and taught us to be self-sufficient. I remember how much we loved going up north to Lewiston for vacations, swimming in the ice cold lakes, fishing, hours and hours of blueberry picking, and driving around at dusk looking for deer. I loved the times we went to the Gratiot Drive-in to watch movies in the back of the station wagon. I was always amazed with your sewing skills from reupholstering furniture to knitting and needlework and all the beautiful quilts you made. You baked bread, made homemade noodles, and cleaned and cooked all the wild game Dad brought home. Nobody makes better potato salad or pie crust than you. You loved to read and to do crossword puzzles. I still have a bag full of newspaper crosswords that you saved for me to do when I had time. Most of them are older than my grandsons! Happy memories. Thank you Mom. I love you and pray for you daily and trust that you are at peace.
I would also like to recognize my sister Denise, and my nieces Corinn, Andrea, and Karrie with deepest gratitude for all the care and assistance they’ve given to Mom and Dad these last few years when they needed it most.
