Ann Stribling Alley, 87, formerly of St. Clair, died peacefully at her home in East Lansing Michigan on January 5, 2023.
Ann was born on February 22, 1935, in Wayne County Tennessee, the only child to Rex Stribling and Ora Stubblefield. Ann grew up in Clifton, Tennessee and earned Bachelor and Master’s degrees in Education from Middle Tennessee State College. She, her husband Charles Alley, and daughter Suzanne, moved to St. Clair, Michigan in 1957 to pursue a career in education. Ann taught 3rd grade at Eddy Elementary in St. Clair for 33 years. Ann was loved and respected by her co-workers, but more importantly by the hundreds of children she impacted positively. She was particularly proud when she had the opportunity to teach the next generation of children of students she previously had in 3rd grade.
Ann loved to laugh and was an avid reader. She was a magnificent cook and regularly prepared southern meals that included prune cake, asparagus casserole, okra, and country fried chicken. She also loved spending time with family and friends at their cottage in Houghton Lake, snowmobiling and playing Euchre.
Ann is survived by her children Mike (Karyn) Alley of St. Clair, Mark (Cassie) Alley of Lansing, grandchildren David (Julie) Alley of St. Clair, Matthew (Riley) Alley of St. Clair, Michael Alley (fiancé Amber Jakiel) of St. Clair, Alys (Kenneth) Seamans of Vienna, VA, Charles Alley of Benton Harbor, Amy Wilson of Hattiesburg, MS as well as many great grandchildren and friends.
