Zelma Johnson's Obituary
Zelma Edris Lee (Logan) Johnson Kimball Twp. Zelma Edris Lee (Logan) Johnson, of Kimball Township, Michigan passed away on Saturday, June 12, 2010 at 11:07 a.m. after a short illness. Zelma was born July 15, 1912 in Pickett County, Tennessee and was 97 years of age when she passed. She was the last living child of Mary Ermine (Walker) and James Jacob Logan with two brothers, Coy (Dora) Logan and Arnold (Fannie) Logan and four sisters, Hattie (Harry) Johnson and (Parley Hawkins), Lilly (Halston) Taylor, and Elnora (John) Ruble, and Polly Logan. Zelma married Joseph Howard Johnson on February 6, 1938 in Illinois. Joseph Johnson passed away September 21, 2002. Ronald Howard Johnson, a son died at birth in 1940. Her first born son, Donald Ray Johnson passed away November 2, 2008. A grandson, Derek Johnson, passed away May 1, 2007. Zelma had been a homemaker for most of her life and loved singing. Zelma is survived by her daughter, Sharon Fay (Ray) Arnold of North Port, FL; grandson, Keith (Rebecca) Arnold, of Brighton, MI; grandchildren, Ronald Howard Johnson, of Minnesota, Valerie (Andrew) Burkholder, Tari (Tom) Atherton, and Donald Joseph (Stacy) Johnson all of Illinois, Jodi Davies, Angelita McGowan, and James Morris of Michigan. Zelma is also survived by many nephews and nieces, including: Beulah (Phil) Simons, Virginia (Branville) Thompson, Ronnie (Jackie) Ruble, John (Doris) Ruble, Glen (Jerry) Ruble, Pat (Jim) Johnson, Geneva (Bob) Hawkins, Ermine Clifford, and LeaRae Johnson. Predeceased by nephew, Bud Ruble. Zelma's deceased in-laws on her husband's side are Maxine Gubbins, Levi and Birdie Johnson, Fred and Susie Johnson, Norma Jean Johnson, Billie Johnson, Grace Johnson, Clarence Shaw. Surviving in-laws are: Amos (Charlotte) Johnson, Francis Leroy (Mary Lou) Gubbins, Robert N. (Tubby) Johnson, Mary (Otto) Fiedler, Virginia Shaw, and James Paul (Joan) Johnson. Special thanks to E-Wing nurses and aides at Marwood Nursing and Rehab for their loving care of Zelma for the past four years. Especially Nurses, Carolyn, Janine, Joyce, Christine, and Jeremy, and Aides, Annamay (Ann), Dawn, Tony, Leslie, Carlita, and Emily, and also to Mindy for bringing music every week and singing with Zelma. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 16, 2010, 11 am at Young Funeral Home, 4061 St. Clair Highway, China Township, MI with the Rev. Max Amstutz, officiating. Visitation Tuesday, June 15, 2010 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Interment, New Haven Centennial Cemetery, New Haven, Michigan. www.youngcolonial.com
