Yvette Z. Harris' Obituary
Yvette Harris, 83, passed away July 11. Born in Belgium, Mrs. Harris came to the U.S. after WWII with her parents, George and Rachel Denys. She was a long-time resident of Casco Twp. and before that had resided many years in Harrison Township. Mrs. Harris was preceded in death by her husband, Ollie, in 2006. She worked for over 40 years in food service at St. John Hospital in Detroit where she was even named "Employee of the Year" before her retirement. Mrs. Harris loved her animals, both cats & dogs, and rescued many strays over the years. A devout Catholic, she enjoyed attending services at St. Mary's in St. Clair, and volunteered for some of the parish endeavors. She is survived by her daughter, Patricia Koenig, her sister, Mary Jane Denys-Myers, and a cousin, Maurice Denys. Visitation will be on Thursday, July 16 from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Young Funeral Home, 4061 St. Clair Highway in East China Township (just outside of St. Clair) Memorial contributions in her honor can be made to the Michigan Humane Society.
