William "Bill Sherman Emery's Obituary
With heavy hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of William "Bill" Sherman Emery, a Marine City resident nearly his entire 70 years of this life.
Straight out of high school Bill embarked on a career with an automotive interior manufacturer, a field he would stay in his entire career. He devoted himself wholeheartedly to his job and to his industry for decades. His commitment and work ethic were ever present, leaving a lasting impact on those who worked beside him, and those that worked for him.
Beyond his professional life, Bill had many interests. He played on several recreational softball/baseball teams and he enjoyed hunting and fishing excursions with his close friends. However, a golf course was where he felt the most at home. Always a student of the game, he spent countless hours honing his skills, teaching what he learned to others, and enjoying the landscape of the courses and the camaraderie of his fellow golfers where ever and when ever he played.
Bill also enjoyed working in his yard and maintaining his plants. He transformed his surroundings into a tranquil space where he often sat under a shade tree after a long day working in the sun, drinking fresh iced tea and talking with visitors and family.
In his retirement, he bought a camper van and used it to visit friends and family out of town for extended periods of time. From the cabin in Northern Michigan to the ranch in Florida, he enjoyed using his handy skills and knowledge to do what he could to help others. He was warm and kind. He was loved... He will be missed.
Bill is survived by his son Erick, his daughter Billie (Robert) Bihn, his sisters Lois Vogler, Mary Smith, Erma Emery, Bea Willis and many neices and nephews.
He is preceded in death by Sylvia Goldie Emery, Florence Polito, Joann Posey, Clarence Vogler, Lloyd E. Emery, and Lloyd I. Emery.
Private ceremonies will be held for Bill, who wished to be cremated and his ashes to be spread over the places he loved most.
