Virginia M. Flemming's Obituary
Virginia Marion Flemming went to heaven on July 3, 2013 after a long battle with colon cancer. She was born in Detroit, Michigan on August 4, 1925 and moved to Algonac, MI as a child. She married Henry "Ward" Flemming, Sr. in 1944 and moved to Marine City, MI. He preceded her in death on June 26, 1990.
Virginia is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Woody and Sharon Flemming. Grandchildren, who were the loves of her life Angela and Jon VanCore, Andrea and Shawn McGoff, Woody Flemming, Jennifer Dudzinski and Darryl Franzel, Becky and Chris Schaft. Great-grandchildren; Ryan Terhune and Haley Lanoo, Chad Morris, Brandon Smith, Zach Morris, Hannah Morris and Luke Schaft. Great-great grandson; Ryder Lanoo. Son-in-law; Dennis and Ellen Dudzinski, and Mary Zimmer. Virginia was the ultimate Gram and there was nothing she wouldn't do for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Virginia was one of 12 children and is survived by brother; Ron King. She is also survived by her companion of 7 years, Bruce Chapple. They enjoyed bowling, golfing, and spending time together. Virginia was also preceded in death by her daughter Barbara Dudzinski in 2006, brothers & sisters; Helen, Ruth, Elna, Elizabeth, Louise, Byron, Clarence, Louis "Bam", Richard, and Elmer.
Virginia was a active member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Marine City, teaching Sunday school for many years and serving on many committees. Her other love was bowling. She organized Friday Fun Bowling for seniors for more than 35 years and bowled on Wednesday in a senior league until 3 months ago with her son at St.Clair Lanes. Virginia was also a wonderful golfer and was on the Ladies Wednesday morning league at Pine Shores Golf Course for many years. She was active in the Cherry Beach Senior Center participating in clog and tap reviews for many years.
Services will be held on Saturday July 6, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mark's Episcopal Church, Marine City. Interment will be at Woodlawn Cemetery, Marine City. Visiting hours will be Friday July 5, from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Young Funeral Home, China Twp.
