Virgina Peters' Obituary
Virginia Peters, age 87, of China Twp., died October 25, 2011. She was born July 28, 1924 in Mt. Clemens to the late George Carl and Jeanette (Nettie Frede) Hurttgam. She was united in marriage on September 2, 1944 to Harry O. Peters. He preceded her in death on February 3, 2001. Virginia and Harry enjoyed their farm life together raising their five children. Virginia was honored in 1987 by St. Peters Lutheran Church for over 25 years as a Sunday School teacher. She also volunteered with East China Elementary School, sharing her love reading with children. She loved nature and was thrilled to travel to places such as the Grand Canyon, Niagara Falls, Hawaii and beaches in California.
She is survived by her children: Dennis of Marine City, Diane (Matthew Urban) of Orlando with two daughters, Gary of Mt. Clemens, Gail of Phoenix. She was also preceded in death by her son Larry who died tragically on January 8, 1996 at the age of 38. Virginia is survived by many beloved neighbors.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 29 at St. Peters Lutheran Church, Fair Haven. Interment will be in St. Peters Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Friday from 2-8:00 p.m. at Young Colonial Chapel Funeral Home, China Twp. and Saturday from 10-11:00 a.m. at church prior to service.
