Vincent J. Girardi's Obituary
Vincent J. Girardi of Port Huron, formerly of St. Clair, passed away June 8, 2010. He was born September 6, 1926 in Detroit to the late Peter and Rose Girardi.
Vincent married Barbara Denker Cowles on April 21, 1978. Vince was an usher at St. Mary’s Church in St. Clair for 25 years and he truly loved working the annual fish fries. He loved spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He enjoyed working and being around people. He worked as a building maintenance man for Lee Seymore at Surf North, Seymore’s Fishman’s Warf, and Gino’s Surf. He also worked at Grosse Pointe Hunt Club where he loved working with the horses. He retired from St. Clair Golf Club because of poor health. Vince was an avid collector of all John Wayne memorabilia, and he also collected a scrapbook of the Great Lakes freighters and lighthouses.
Vincent is survived by his loving wife, Barbara. His beloved dog, Annie. Sons John (Patti) Girardi, Joseph (Kathy) Cowles, William (Judy) Cowles, Gerald (Rochelle) Cowles. Son-in-law, Kevin Rambow. Daughters; Linda (Dennis) Elliott, and Barbara (Clarence) Blain. Twelve grandchildren; Jacklyn and Courtney Girardi, Jennifer and Pamela Rambow, Sheila (Steven) Glod, Scott (Tracy) Elliot, Jennifer (Dale) Bailey, Michael J. Cowles, Bryan and Mary Cowles, Jacob and Joshua Blain. Five great-grandchildren; Nickalas, Andrew, and Cameron Elliot, Jaymason and Jeralyn Glod. Sisters; Veta Girardi and Liz (Wayne) Gill. Also survived by several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his daughter; Cynthia Rambow and granddaughter, Tina Lynn Cowles.
Visitation at Young Funeral Home on Thursday from 2-4 and 6-9pm. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday at 11am at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, St. Clair. Additional visitation is 10-11am at the church prior to the service. In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to Father Flannigan ‘s Boys Town or the St. Clair County Humane Society.
